About & FAQ
J·Market is a structured, searchable marketplace for the frum community across the tristate area — one permanent, filterable home for gowns, sheitels, furniture, cars, housing, and more, replacing the scattered WhatsApp buy/sell groups.
It's built around the community: modesty details on gowns and sheitels, eruv and proximity-to-shul on housing, and direct, neighbor-to-neighbor deals. This is an early prototype — more categories and features are on the way.
Frequently asked
- How does J·Market work?
- Browse listings by category and filter by the details that matter (size, price, community, bedrooms, walk-to-shul, and more). Found something? Message the seller in-app, or call/text them if they shared a number on the listing. Post your own item in under a minute.
- How do payments work? Does J·Market take a cut?
- J·Market never processes or holds money. Sellers display their own payment handles (Zelle/Venmo/Cash App) and arrange payment directly with the buyer — exactly like the WhatsApp groups, just organized. We're a directory, not a payment processor.
- Is it safe? How are people verified?
- Listings show seller reputation (ratings) and we use flag-based moderation — a listing that's reported by several people is auto-hidden pending review. Phone verification is the planned anti-spam backbone. As always with local deals: meet sensibly and trust your judgment.
- Will my phone number be public?
- No. Your profile phone is never shown publicly. When you post an item you can choose, per listing, to show your number so buyers can call/text — and that choice applies only to that listing.
- How do I post an item?
- Hit “+ Sell”, pick a category, add a few photos and the details, and post. High-volume sellers get a storefront page that collects all their active listings in one place.
- Which categories can I post?
- Gowns and rentals/housing have tailored forms today; every other category (sheitels, cars, furniture, baby, judaica, general, vacation, lost & found) can be posted too, with more category-specific fields rolling out over time.
